Actually not everything is ridiculously expensive here. This piece of dory fish cost less than $2. Bought it at West End market and I was quite stunned when I heard the price. I think that platter would cost at least $8 in both Singapore and Australia. It tasted quite good and my housemates even created a sauce to go with the fish.
Singaporeans are really very 'kiasu'. It's only mid August but the air tickets back to Singapore for December are already fully booked! I think next year I'll have to book my air tickets really early.
