Surprise Mail

I got a postcard from my ex-colleague, Wendy. I really didn't expect my colleagues to send me mail as I know all of them must be very busy with work. Goes to show that I am constantly still in their mind. Haha... Really glad that we are not the type of colleagues who loses touch the minute we quit. We went through a lot together while at work and of course there were happy times and stress times. Will never forget the time when the two of us were so stressed that we started cracking crappy jokes. And will not forget the times spent at This Fashion trying clothes till they close! I miss you girls! I'll be putting some of your photos on my blog someday. Right now, I'm still only halfway through my relatives' photos. Hehe...

收到前同事的明信片，真的很意外，从来没有想过会收到她（或她们）寄来的信。她们应该是很忙吧，因为除了我，还有一位同事刚辞职。我不会忘记一起渡过的那些时光，好想念你们！有一天，我也会把你们的照片放上网的。

Fried Rice

Today, our chief cook, Jie Ying had to work so we have to cook our own lunch. Adeline, the assistant cook was promoted to chief cook just for that meal. And I, usually just the kitchen helper was promoted to assistant cook. I cooked the rice and Adeline fried it. Up till now, I still can't cook rice properly, even with a rice cooker. I tend to add too much water and today was no different. The rice turned out to be too moist but luckily, it's alright as we had to fry it anyway.

今天主厨不在所以我们得自己煮午餐。饭是我煮，我说的是白饭。炒饭这种工作当然不是轮到我作的。不过单单用电饭锅煮个白饭也能出错。不知道为什么，我总是加了太多水，结果饭太湿。还好是要拿来炒的所以还能挽救。

Felicia, the eldest in the fourth generation of Tan's family and also, my niece. She can barely recognise me before I left. By the time I go back, I'll be a total stranger to her. Oh well, nothing I can do anyway. This photo of her doesn't look very flattering right? There's actually another photo but I look ugly in it so of course I'm not putting that one here. Haha...

我手上抱着的是我们陈家的第四代，堂哥的女儿，我的侄女。离开的时候她不是很认得我，回去时，她肯定不认得我了。她在照里不是很可爱吧？其实还有另一张照片，不过，我在另一张照片里很难看，所以是不可能把那张照片放上网的。


Jassica Tan, Jaslyn Tan, ME and my brother-in-law (Jaslyn's hubby). Used to be quite jealous of him before they got married. He's actually Jassica's cousin from her mother's side. So, whenever he came to visit, both of them will be crowding around him and I'll be left alone. After I got over my pettiness, we actually manage to get on quite well and can even joke around sometimes.

有时候朋友会开玩笑的叫我大小姐，我总会一本正经的回说我不是大小姐，我是陈家二小姐。现在正式介绍，站在我身旁，穿红色衣服的那位才是陈家大小姐。

Banana Fondue - failed attempt

Bought this block of chocolate at a discounted price of $4. The range of Cadbury chocolates almost drove me crazy but I managed to rein myself in and exercised great self-control. The truth is, I am not a very big fan of chocolates. I only eat when I have the craving for it. Today, I suddenly got this idea of having banana with chocolates, must be due to the cold rainy day. So, I took a bit of my Cadbury chocolates and melted it using the microwave. It looked fine initially but I forgot that chocolates harden. And because it looked really thick and I have no milk on hand, I decided to add water to the chocolate instead. Bad choice. Anyway, I put my chocolate back into the microwave, attempting to re-melt it. When I took it out of the microwave, I almost laughed out loud. The chocolates looked really yucky! I am so amazed by myself. I knew now that Cadbury chocolate is a bad choice for fondue and it's not good to heat it for too long. I almost couldn't wait to move out and live alone. Imagine how the meals I attempt to cook will look like. Everyone will be guaranteed a very entertaining and amusing time just looking at my failed cooking attempts.

这块巧克力够大吧？只须要4元，是折扣价。这里的巧克力种类繁多，让我差点失去控制，还好，我定力够。其实我也不是很爱吃巧克力。今天突然想吃，可能是因为雨天的关系吧。第一次尝试把巧克力溶化时，觉得太厚了便加了一点水。后来巧克力硬化，我便再放进微波炉，想要再把它溶化。大错特错。出来的成品让我哑然失笑。没想到单单弄个巧克力也能让我搞出这个样子。将来一个人生活时可有得玩了，煮出来的晚餐应该蛮另类的吧！
This is not how I imagined my chocolate fondue will turn out. As it's too hard to dip, I scooped the chocolates and put it on top of the bananas instead. At least its edible but the pictures turned out to be quite disgusting so I decided not to scare you all by putting up the photo. Not for the faint-hearted.

不应该是这个样子的，不过至少还能吃。

Chest X-ray

两个星期前，受到澳洲移民局的信，要求我今天去照多一次x-ray。在新加坡时，已经照过一次了。好像是我肺x-ray有问题所以要再照一次以确定一切无恙。今天还一连照了两次，正面和侧面。问放射师有什么问题时，她说是上一张x-ray片的影像不清楚，应该没什么大问题，要我不要太担心。怎么能不担心呢？不过，现在担心也没用吧，只好走一步看一步了。对了，别让阿嫲知道，以免她老人家担心。

原本是想要搭巴士到放射中心的，学校的湖边有个车站，从那可以搭巴士过河，不过得转车。早上还从住址搭车到学校，不过巴士司机没有收我车费。放了学，走到湖边时又突然决定用走的。一方面是觉得转车麻烦而且距离似乎不会很远，另一方面是想清理一下思绪。每当我决得烦恼或心情不好时，总喜欢到处走走，不然就是去睡觉。

从学校走了大概半小时就到了。过后又从放射中心走回去，结果省了一天的车钱。

有想过下半年搬到这里住，不过今天看了周围便打消念头。这里实在太偏僻了，晚上在路上走会觉得害怕。


从这里走到桥的另一端就是我的学校了。

这就是我刚刚过的桥。右边是学校，左边是住宅区-Dutton Park。这条桥叫做Eleanor Schonell Bridge, 也叫Green Bridge.

I cooked...

I cooked my own lunch yesterday as my housemates were not around to cook and I was too lazy to go out and buy. It was only instant noodles but at least I enjoyed it. My housemates asked me to cook it for them someday and I turned them down. Why eat my substandard and plain instant noodles when they can cook their own sumptuous meal?

Today, I went out for movies with my other group of friends. After that, we shopped around a bit and had some very sinful ice-cream. Thankfully, the birds decided to spare me. Haha...

River Festival - Riverfire!

I just can't help congratulating myself on choosing the right place to study. It's so much fun and there are so many things to see in Brisbane. Just 2 weeks ago, there's EKKA and now, there's the River Festival. Fireworks! 30 minutes of non-stop fireworks! It's much more spectacular than those at Esplanade and here, they really spare no expenses. The fireworks was not only at one spot but the whole stretch of the river. There were fireworks sprouting out of the top of the CBD buildings too. It's even better than the symphony of lights in Hong Kong!

We were so lucky. The fireworks start the minute we got out of the bus. We nearly couldn't make it as we did not know the ferries stop working at 6pm so had to take bus instead.

I actually took some more photos and a couple of videos too but the videos were too big to upload and the other photos were too blur.

That bright spot there is neither a street light nor an UFO. It's part of the fireworks and something which I had never seen before. It looks like a small bunch of fire flying horizontally across the sky.

While watching the fireworks, I couldn't help thinking of my fireworks buddies. Wish you all were here to share the spectacular sights with me...
